If you didn’t know… I am a huge Aaliyah fan. Not only because of her music - but because of her photography.

My two favourite photographers are David La Chapelle and Jonathan Mannion (whom created these stunning visuals above).

According to sources, Mannion was the last ever photographer to ever do a professional shoot with Aaliyah - which makes me think this was done Late Spring 2001 or Early Summer 2001 - Due to the release of her self-titled Aaliyah in July 2001. Within the booklet Mannion’s beautiful shots capture the expression of self-confidence yet not within a egotistical frame of mind.

One of my aims in 2012 is to purchase a Aaliyah print and one especially by Mannion - His approach to capturing identities never gives out too much that it’s intense - but enables the invidual’s body language and gesture to speak clearly.

His choices on backdrops and scenarios really create a enviroment which is proper eye-candy.
